Postponed - 50th Anniversary Symposium Wed/Thu 1-2 Sep
Due to the current Covid-19 lockdown, unknown timing of alert level changes, and because we would prefer a face-to-face celebration of 50 years of the Society, the Agronomy Society Council took the decision on 25 Aug to postpone the 50th Anniversary symposium scheduled for next week (Wednesday/Thursday 1-2 Sep).
The Symposium will be postponed until April 2022 (dates to be confirmed shortly). A message will be sent out to sponsors, registrants & members on Thu 26 Aug.
This is a reminder that the 2016 Agronomy Society and NZ Grassland Association Conferences are being held in Timaru from November 2-4. The venue is the Caroline Bay Hall.
We encourage all members of the Agronomy Society and those with an interest in agronomy to attend. The combined programmes will cover a wide range of crop and pastoral topics and there are a number of half day field trips planned to local agribusinesses around the Timaru area. In particular, we are pleased to be able to offer an agronomy focused field trip at this year’s conference, to be held on Thursday 3rd November. It will include stops at the Heartland Potato Factory, a specialty small seed producer, Turley Farms to view milling wheat, onions and ryegrass as well as potatoes at Raymond Bowan’s. There will be guest speakers at each stop covering topics from market opportunities, quality, variable rate fertilisers, PGR’s, IPM and more.
The easiest way to register for the conference as an Agronomy Society member is to fill out the attached from and email it to email@example.com. Alternatively, you can register online. The early-bird discounted rate for Agronomy Society and NZ Grassland Association members is $405 for the full event or $195 for one day.
Early bird registrations close on 5 October.
The draft programme for both events is also available online and will be finalised within the next two weeks.
